Evening. You are waiting for Carol outside Hallmark while she looks for Christmas cards. Her address book never turned up so she will send cards to those who send to her. Later, you go to Roush Honda in Westerville to have a maintenance dash light checked. Earlier you both had a late lunch with Kim at Guidonia’s (Chicago) Pizza. Now, let's get back to souls and their function. - Amorella
1808 hours. I assume it is to hold or carry/protect the heartanmind in the Afterworld, that's the inference we've used so far.
What would be its use before the creation of matter? - Amorella
2050 hours. I have absolutely no idea. I admit I have had fleeting thoughts about it a few times over the decades, mostly in the context of "What existed before the Big Bang?" I remember thinking about this while in weekly study during joining the Presbyterian Church because, personally, it promoted a sense of wonder. With the Biblical creation story, Adam and Eve exist, but Satan, a fallen Angel, already existed before Adam and Eve; at least that is what I assumed, and from that the following question popped up, "What did the Angels do before human beings existed?" They were supposedly immortal. What do immortals do? And, from there, "If humans become immortal after physical death, then what do they do?" I have never been able to reason through this. Stories don't exist without a storyteller. Until the storyteller (any human being) there cannot be a story. We gain a sense of progress through the evolution from the physical creation of the universe (and perhaps many others). "Becoming" and "Existing" are what happens with matter. Time is how we measure change, progress or otherwise. A step beyond matter, in my mind, is storytelling of any kind, oral or otherwise (whatever the media of presentation). Carrying this through, sometime in my second or third decade, I wondered if G-D is the Storyteller. Well, maybe, that's what the soul is for, to keep the individual's heartanmind consciously alive (albeit, with an unconscious connected). This short commentary does not, however, answer the question about what the soul's use was before the Beginning.
This was a hypothetical question, boy. And, of course, you responded with a story of sorts related to your own past and present thoughts on the subject. Let's start with the human concept that G-D exists and existed before the creation, as it were, the Big Bang. - Amorella
2131 hours. So, this would include Angels and Souls?
G-D, Angels and Souls. I give you this as a start because people have their stories. - Amorella
2134 hours. What about nonbelievers? They have stories too.
They have Nothing. - Amorella
2136 hours. That's funny. At least Nothing in this context is capitalized.
You would not have had the heartanmind not to capitalize it. - Amorella
2141 hours. Deep down, you are right Amorella, I would not accept 'nothing'. Sometimes in my life I did -- raw Sartre existentialism in my teens and twenties. My sense of wonder prevailed, a capital N is the only acceptable spelling of Nothing in this context. It is strange to think on such matters tonight. I never know what my fingertips will punch on the keyboard.
