4. Notes - another definition / humor

Late morning. You meet Kim for lunch at Brio's at Polaris Center after which the three of you meet with Andy your financial advisor at Ameriprise on Columbus Pike. On Friday cousin Marilyn, her husband Tony (in from California) and your sister Cathy will stop by your home along with Aunt Ruthie who wants her daughter and son-in-law to see the house. They are in town for Aunt Ruthie's 90th Birthday party this Saturday afternoon. Aunt Ruthie (Ruth Ann) is your mother's (Mary Laverna) sister. - Amorella

Suppertime. You are wondering why your heart and soul and mind each have an individual point a view when, you consider the heartansoulanmind, as a single unit which you define as an example of the human spirit?

1810 hours. I need to begin with a definition to respond to your question, Amorella.

Human spirit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The human spirit is a component of human philosophypsychologyart, and knowledge - the spiritual or mental part of humanity. While the term can be used with the same meaning as "human soul", human spirit is sometimes used to refer to the impersonal, universal or higher component of human nature in contrast to soul or psyche which can refer to the ego or lower element. The human spirit includes our intellect, emotions, fears, passions, and creativity.
In the models of Daniel A. Helminiak and Bernard Lonerganhuman spirit is considered to be the mental functions of awarenessinsightunderstandingjudgement and other reasoning powers.
It is distinguished from the separate component of psyche which comprises the entities of emotionimagesmemory and personality
John Teske views human spirit as a social construct representing the qualities of purpose and meaning which transcend the individual human.
Distinction between the human spirit and soul
According to historian Oswald Spengler, a distinction between Spirit and Soul has been made by the West and earlier civilizations which influenced its development. The human spirit can be seen as the heavenly component of human's non material makeup - the part that is impersonal or universal.Whereas souls are the personal element unique to each individual. As Spengler writes in The Decline of the West: . . .
In Christianity, the Bible identifies humanity's three basic elements: spirit, soul and body. Christians emphasise that the human spirit is the 'real person', the very core of a person's being, the essential seat of their existence. When a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Saviour, it is their human spirit that is transformed as they become 'new creatures' in Jesus Christ. The soul which is the seat of the will, mind and emotions does not get converted but needs to be renewed on a daily basis through the recommended Christian disciplines such as prayer and reading the Bible. In Islam, Muslims are viewed as having their own spirits, but one that in a sense is one with God's spirit. For Spengler, the perception of unity this idea led to was important for the emergence of the "consensus" that maintained harmony in Islamic culture, especially during the Golden Age of Islam

Duly acknowledged. Number 7 above is bothering you because you do not believe it is possible for a living person to truly 'know himself' because of unconsciousness and other factors. Factors that cannot be fully known or taken into account, particularly during rushed decision making. - Amorella

2053 hours. I think Socrates' uses of the quotation "Know Thyself" in the framework of a cynical bit of dark humor whether he did or not. Most anytime I sense an irony at work I smile and think, "Who says G-D does not have a sense of humor?" Life embellishes humor. Life may even embellish G-D or the Lack of G-D. Either way, humor exists.

In here, in this blog, you have free will. You are entitled to use it even if it is not a necessity. - Amorella

2101 hours. Is this a natural rule, to have free will?

This is our blog. I am setting perimeters, just as you are. Post. - Amorella

3. Notes - a spirit in three parts / a revelation

Early afternoon. You are parked in front of the south Macy's lot facing southeast while Carol is shopping. You are feeling a bit foolish after declaring this new blog to your world of friends on Facebook, but you had the energy for it yesterday, and what is done is done. - Amorella

1324 hours. My enthusiasm was based on the pleasure of my fingers on the keyboard on a blog once again. So, here I am. Put me to some use.

I plan on it. The 'me' (above reference) though is your heartansoulanmind. This blog is going to divide your spirit into the three said (separate) parts of reference to show you examples of the separation in a definition of friendship.

** **

friendship noun lasting friendships: relationship, close relationship, attachment, mutual attachment, association, bond, tie, link, union; informal bromance.

old ties of love and friendship: amity, camaraderie, friendliness, comradeship, companionship,
fellowship, fellow feeling, closeness, affinity, rapport, understanding, harmony, unity; intimacy, mutual affection. ANTONYMS  enmity.

This is how I, the Amorella sense your heartansoulanmind (human spirit) in its parts.

Your heart's definition of friendship: old ties of love, feelings, understanding and mutual affection.

Your soul's definition of friendship: bond, intimacy, union.

Your mind's definition of friendship: close relationship, attachment, rapport.

1344 hours. It is interesting how you 'know' this, know these parts as separate entities. I do not deny what you say. Unconsciously, neither do my heart and soul and mind deny as I have learned to address this sort of inner communication.

Later. Presently you are at Shale Hollow Park off National Route 23. Carol is walking. You took a picture from your perspective. The specks of blue between tree trunks and limbs is the sky. You are about five miles from your house and a mile and a half from Kim and Paul's. - Amorella

1551 hours. Carol just returned to begin reading the September Consumer Reports. I wonder -- how does my heart see this area in front of me, and my soul, and my mind?

Your heart sees romance -- waiting for a fellow heart to stop by and say hello in a bit of cool breeze. Until then, it waits between the trees and land and sky, refreshed and clear and ready for engagement where and whenever hearts kiss flesh and touch fingers, as it were. - translated by Amorella

Your soul sees little here of importance. There is no bond with this earth and scene. It might as well be the surface of the Moon.

Your mind thinks on a scene from the 1960's wonderous film, Dr. Zhivagobased on the book by Boris Pasternak, and how the setting was in Mother Russia in the Fall. And, also the joy of taking Dr. Harold Hancock's 'Russian History' class as a sophomore with fellow fraternity brothers at Otterbein.

Those are first thoughts/memories from each. Below is the photograph, - Amorella

Shale Hollow Park

1700 hours. It is interesting that only the mind, as it were, alludes to personal memory. The soul is indifferent, which is a surprise, but the heart's center is on romance as an ideal. Yet, consciously I see my human spirit in three connected parts.

Through seven years of blogged notes in "Encounters in Mind" you trained yourself, through my guidance, to see within yourself in this manner. It is now a conditioned response as you accept that your human spirit is indeed divided into three parts. - Amorella

1710 hours. I needed a way to organize that which is invisible. I learned how to do this intuitively and through yourself.

Your EIM blog shows this by example through years of study and observation. Notes taken through your years of self-study and observation are a fact. This blog is building on those facts. - Amorella

1724 hours. This is a revelation to me -- that "Encounters in Mind" would be a prelude to "Encounters in Spirit". I never heard or considered "Encounters in Spirit" until you told me about it the day I set up the blog and the first note page. I had no idea whether I would start another blog or not. For all I knew I was pretty much done with the writing business, at least as far as sharing it with others. Blows me away, Amorella, blows me away, and continues to do so. This is quite humbling. Amorella, you are something else.

So it seems, boy. So it seems. Post. - Amorella

Carol is reading her book in bed, you are sitting in the black recliner facing her as you face west. You have created a new file folder titled,"EIS.2018" which holds a new 'Notes" folder and a new "Photos" folder. This is the same set up you have used for decades. Stats show you had seven pageviews yesterday and eighteen pageviews total. Seventeen pageview are from within the United States according to Google and one from an Unknown Region. All for tonight. Post. - Amorella

2256 hours. I am enjoying setting up this project.. I am assuming this will be a lifelong project, which is fine with me. Self-learning has always been a major personal purpose of mine.

Time to ready yourself to Discount Tires in Lewis Center for your free rotation for the Avalon. Later. - Amorella

1258 hours. I am waiting at Discount. Do you wish to continue?

The second definition returns to the beginning of the quotation, "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly;" Anyone wanted to define "heart" in context with this blog may return to the "Encounters in Mind" blog to discover its use. "Seeing rightly" is my concern here. 'Understanding rightly' will work, but what of the use of "rightly" in terms of this blog, "Encounters in Spirit"? - Amorella

The underlining in both definitions above serve for this blog to prevent misunderstanding, unintentional or otherwise. - Amorella

1338 hours. Your tone immediately above is a little disconcerting.

Orndorff, your mind is being interrupted by the day to day social and political world you live in. - Amorella

1343 hours. What about defining "invisible" as in "invisible to the eye"?

** **
invisible adjective - when the glue dries, it is invisible: unable to be seen, not visible;
undetectable, indiscernible, inconspicuous, imperceptible; unseen,
unnoticed, unobserved, hidden, veiled, obscured, out of sight.

Selected and edited from the Oxford/American software

** **

What would you underline in the above, boy? - Amorella

1351 hours. This is not so easy. If something is 'unseen' it might still be detectable, but if something is 'undetectable' then does that mean it is and never will be detectable? Words are confusing. I don't really know what the right definition is in this case, which is the reason I brought up the question in the first place.

Later, Carol is on page 156 of Coben's Home. You are facing east across a soccer field at Heritage Park in Westerville. You had lunch at home and are sharing a diet Coke from McD's on nearby Cleveland Avenue. - Amorella

If the human spirit is imperceptible, you know it is either honestly unobserved in the moment or veiled from a nearby observer's sight or intuitional sense. - Amorella

1514 hours. Why would anyone honest want to hide her or his natural nature or inclinations? I cannot imagine anyone who is truly interested in her or his natural humanity to be reading this blog in the first place. How can one come to know others, if sheorhe does not know herorhimself? Socrates says that to be wise one must attempt to be moderate in all things and to know himself. Socrates, Plato and Aristotle are important to me in my attempt to learn almost anything. For instance, a couple of days ago our old friends, Craig and Alta, left our home to go to the wedding of another family friend's son or daughter in Granville, Ohio. I have known Craig since he was a Freshman at Westerville High. We both were on the football team in 1957-1958. We joined the same fraternity at Otterbein University in the Fall, 1961. In fact, Craig had a couple of dates with Carol before I did. We  both were in each other's weddings. We have kept in touch over the years, traveling first to Chicago to see the King Tut exhibit, to Sao Paulo and Rio when Carol and I taught in Brazil, to Washington D.C. when Carol's parents still lived there, trips around the United States as well as to Canada, England and Italy. They are meeting us at our Mason friend's condo at Madeira Beach, Florida at the end of November and they are traveling back to Ohio with us to see other mutual old friends Jim and Jeanne, in Atlanta. Jim was a fraternity brother. Such lifelong friends are surely examples of connecting literally with the heartsansoulsanminds of others of our species. These actions can be seen, observed by others, but in the heartsansoulsanminds of others the friendships may at some levels be unspeakable because we do not have the vocabulary to share a deep friendship with another human being at that level. Without words to use to share, the depths of such love and kindness for one another are inadequate, but the feelings and reality and truth of such relationships are real enough to hope such friendships survive physical death. True friends are closer sometimes than friendships within one's own family. Those who do or cannot admit this to themselves are dishonest. We love others but we cannot know how much. Never. It is invisible to the eye as well as to one's heart and soul and mind. Not knowing the measurement of such depth in heartansoulanmind (human spirit) is essential to being a human being. (1544)

With such a statement you are at a crux of being human, but questions can be asked and further self-learning can take place. Once home, post. - Amorella
