You and Carol visited Dr. Scott R. this morning. You had a steroid cortisone shot to relieve the osteoarthritic pain in both knees. Kim called and is meeting you for lunch at Panera on Rt. 23 across from Kroger's shortly after noon local time. Errands this afternoon. Tomorrow lunch with Fritz M. at Bob Evans in Westerville. - Amorella
Presently, you are facing west towards the woods in the north lot at Heritage Park. Carol is walking. A short while ago you were reading a recent article from England's "The Sun" newspaper online about how people do retain consciousness, at least for a short time after death. If you can find the article drop it in. There have been anecdotal stories about this from those where were actually pronounced dead and shortly after were revived. - Amorella
1522 hours. It this is verifiable it shows, at least to me, that it is perhaps plausible that consciousness can survive physical death for a short time. How does consciousness do this? Where does it go? How does it come back? What are the triggers?

When you die ‘you KNOW you’re dead because your brain keeps working’, scientist claims
A new study suggests your consciousness carries on after your heart stops beating

WE know we are dead when we die because our brains keep working to make us aware of what's happening around us, haunting new research suggests.
Top medical experts have forever been at loggerheads over what happens when humans die, with anecdotal evidence of bright lights and flashes reported by people who have 'come back' being the cause of much debate.
.Dr Sam Parnia is studying consciousness after death and examining cardiac arrest cases in Europe and the US.
He says people in the first phase of death may still experience some form of consciousness.
The expert ventured that people who have survived cardiac arrest later accurately described what was happening around them after their hearts stopped beating.
He said: "They'll describe watching doctors and nurses working, they'll describe having awareness of full conversations, of visual things that were going on, that would otherwise not be known to them."

Explaining when a patient is officially declared dead, he said: "It's all based on the moment when the heart stops.
"Technically speaking, that's how you get the time of death."
His study is examining what happens to the brain after a person goes into cardiac arrest - and whether consciousness continues after death and for how long - to improve the quality of resuscitation and prevent brain injuries while restarting the heart.
Unlike the plot in Flatliners, however, when a person is resuscitated they don't return with a "magical enhancement" of their memories, said Dr. Parnia.

Later, you had a leftover supper and are waiting for the national evening news. The article is not as exciting or detailed as you hoped. It does show though, that people argue about whether consciousness continues after physical death. - Amorella
In my sense of being, consciousness is not the spirit, the heartansoulanmind, of an individual. An analogy is that consciousness is the bloodwork of the spirit. For example, consciousness allows the spirit to move, to work its way, to stand on its own ground, so to speak. mh
2251 hours. The article above is not proof obviously but it does show to me that there is a possibility that consciousness survives physical death. One of our problems is in the definition of physical death. We use 'when the heart stops'. Perhaps it should be 'when consciousness leaves, i.e. when the brain is physically dead. Life is always interesting. If there is consciousness within the human spirit after physical death, then I would hope human spiritual life will be interesting too.
